How She Does It: Yasmina Prosser (The She Laughs Project)

I am a twentysomething (really I’m 28) woman who has been married since 2013. I accepted Christ at 19 years old in my bedroom after reading the bible every night for a month. I am passionate about knowing and seeking the Lord and helping women do the same. I am a super-sanguine (I like being where the people are), who can’t get enough of sushi and starbucks iced latte’s! I am on the journey of learning to find joy and laughter in the up’s and down’s of life.

Tell us a little about your Ministry/Shop "The She Laughs Project" & your heart behind the community there!

The She Laughs Project was actually birthed out of taking a step of faith (and facing my fears) to start a blog. The moment I said “yes” to God and “no” to fear of man, God started opening up things in me that I never knew where there.  I was reading Proverbs 31 and when I came to verse 25 “and she laughs without fear of the future” NLT I felt such a connection to the words “She Laughs”. I knew I was going to be a part of sharing this message of a woman who could laugh at the days to come when they understand who their God is and who they are in Him. Our heart is to empower women to seek the Lord in everything, to trust him wholeheartedly and to laugh without fear of the future. We are currently doing this by encouraging social media post, blogs, stories from real women, and our shop! We are also gearing up to release resources to help women really dig into their relationship with the Lord.

As a 20something, how are you learning to get comfortable in your own skin?

As a 28 year old I am more comfortable in my skin then ever (and I hear it gets better in our 30’s)! How I am learning to get comfortable in my skin is honestly by finding my indentity and value in the Lord more than in people (past and present). In my early 20’s I spent so much time wondering what everyone thought about me that I almost didn’t even know myself or what I thought about myself. Today more than ever, my confidence is based on what the Lord thinks of me and it brings SO MUCH security!

Tell us some tips on how you study the bible and encounter God’s presence?

Something new I have added to my bible time has been journaling. I know many people do this but for the longest time I didn’t see the value in it. Now that I have started to journal my prayers and anxieties I can invite God into those places of my heart and actually process and acknowledge what I am feeling.

If you could give other young women 1 practical piece of advice on going after their dreams, what would it be?

I would have to say, do it afraid. Never let the fear of man, or failure stop you from stepping out in God dreams. God is on the other side of that first step toward your dream. He will meet you there!

You’re a 20something who influences  women everywhere to Laugh without fear of their future- what area in your life have you had to surrender to the Lord & found the ability to "laugh" without fear?

This is a tough one to answer as I have had to let go of SO MUCH. In this last year I had to trust God as I surrendered a community, security and friendships. I also decided to to let go of unhealthy behaviors and go deeper in my relationship with him. I can tell you laughter doesn’t come immediately. We are human and need to go through the healthy emotional responses (morning, grief, sadness, ect) but the more I kept seeking Him and leaning into Him the more I saw the GOOD He was bringing and the strength he was bringing out in me. If there is anything I have learned in this journey of “laughing” it is that God is GOOD through and through.

What’s your favorite quick-prep dinner for you and your hubby on busy nights?

I love a good asian stir-fry….I’m a little obsessed with asian food of all types….

Tell us your favorite Instagram account to follow for Inspiration, and why?

It would have to be between Proverbs 31 Ministries and She Reads Truth - I love what both of them are doing to empower and encourage women! It’s always so inspirational!

Do you ever feel the pressure to have it  A L L  together, in a certain area, as a 20something? What truths are your learning to speak over that situation?

Oh my gosh, all the time! This world and social media is constantly trying to tell me to have it all together. But ya know what? I don’t and I can’t! That’s not real life. The older I get the more comfortable I become with not having it all together! I think this is coming from that place of learning how God sees me. He knows I don’t have it all together and doesn’t expect me to...that’s why he sent Jesus! I can rest in that.

What’s your favorite beauty secret?

On most Monday’s I don’t wear make-up :) #NoMakeUpMonday

What traditions or routines are you trying to implement into your lifestyle?

I am trying to practice stillness, silence and rest. When you are in your early twenties all you want to do is go, go, go and do, do, do. Honestly, I am exhausted! I am learning that God cares way more about you resting and BEING then going and doing. I am learning in my stillness and silence that I can connect more with God then in the hustle and bustle of life. Adding this into my life has honestly been game changer!
